Food Supplement Notification for Germany (BVL)
Mandatory BVL Notification Before Market Entry
Before a food supplement can be marketed in Germany, it must be officially notified to the Federal Office of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL). This notification must be completed no later than the first day the product is placed on the German market.
The process ensures that food supplements entering Germany meet national and EU regulatory requirements and that the correct documentation is on record with the authorities.
How the German BVL Notification Process Works
1. Prepare the Required Documentation
To complete the notification, the following documents are required:
